AboutPublicationsProjectsSoftwareTeachingResources

I am Hanaa Torkey, entering the PhD program at Department of Computer Science, Virginia Tech. Before joining Virginia Tech, I worked as a research assistant at Faculty of Electronic Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering derpartment, Menoufiya University for almost 4 years. I received B.S and M.S degrees both from Faculty of Electronic Engineering.

My research area is Computational biology and Bioinformatics, especially Regularoty Biological Networks Learning, Statistical and Bayesian inference, and Machine learning.

I am trying to know how MicroRNA interact with genes(or other regultory elements) and how to help manage different data sources more efficiently and effectively to understand the regulation and function and of microRNAs in the cell. I will then try to learn the role that microRNAs play in the development and progression of various diseases. Predicting potential microRNA-disease associations from vast amount of biological data is current direction in my research.
