Thus , administration of MCP , which increased prolactin secretion , appears to be a useful adjunct for restoring the depressed cardiac and hepatocellular functions and downregulating inflammatory cytokine release after trauma and hemorrhagic shock.
CONCLUSIONS : The down-regulation of inflammatory cytokines by pentoxifylline may be the mechanism by which this agent restores the depressed hepatocellular function after trauma hemorrhage and resuscitation.
