The production of interleukin-8 induced by the activation of protease-activated receptor 2 and its synergism with interleukin-1beta were modulated by 14-membered-ring macrolides , namely , roxithromycin , erythromycin , and clarithromycin , in cultured normal human epidermal keratinocytes.
In vitro studies verified the above results , by showing expression of IL-8 and IL-8R in cultured gingival keratinocytes.
The appearance of IL-8 in patients urine after BCG therapy was compared with BCG-induced IL-6 and IL-2 and the stability of IL-8 in urine was tested.
Of these , 71 patients were treated with BCG immunotherapy.
