BACKGROUND/AIM : The purpose of this study was to compare the levels of the cytokines interleukin-1beta (IL-1beta) , IL-4 , and IL-8 in the gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) of adolescents and young adults.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES : Proinflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1beta are known to be synthesized in oral gingivitis and periodontitis and lead to the activation of the transcription factor nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kappaB).
Because TNF-alpha gene expression is under the control of nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kappaB) , we investigated whether FasL can induce NF-kappaB activation and whether such activation plays a role in FasL-mediated cell death in macrophages.
Notexin-induced upregulation of Fas and FasL was suppressed by SB202190 (p38 MAPK inhibitor) and S600125 (JNK inhibitor).
