IFN-gamma→NF-kappa B→NF-kappa B→JunD

• 20464128(IFN-gamma): Leishmania spp. parasite isolation through inoculation of patient biopsy macerates in interferon gamma knockout mice.

  Our preliminary results support the use of IFNgamma KO mice to improve the possibility to isolate New World Leishmania species.

• 12574369(NF-kappa B): NF-kappa B1 is required for optimal CD4+ Th1 cell development and resistance to Leishmania major.

  Critically , the frequency of proliferating KO CD4 (+) T cells secreting IFN-gamma matched that of wild-type cells , suggesting that NF-kappaB1 was not required for efficient transcription of the IFN-gamma gene.

• 1339344(NF-kappa B): Identification of NF-jun, a novel inducible transcription factor that regulates c-jun gene transcription.

  These findings demonstrate that the c-jun gene can be regulated by a transcription factor distinct from AP-1.

• 8922589(JunD): Differential regulation of c-Jun and JunD by ubiquitin-dependent protein degradation.

  c-Jun and JunD are two closely related members of the Jun family of transcription factors which markedly differ in their biological functions.
