At the end of the treatment , serum levels of IL-6 and TNF-alpha in the treatment group were significantly decreased compared with the before treatment (P (0.01) and those did in the control group (P (0.01).
Compared with the control group , the UTI treatment groups showed significantly lower serum alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase levels , decreased myeloperoxidase activity , and reduced NF-kappaB activation.
Pretreatment with low dose IFN-gamma augmented injury as measured by histology , aminotransferase concentrations , and myeloperoxidase activity.
IFN-gamma and IL-12 mRNA are subsequently up-regulated at day 6 following ischemia.
In vivo , the same factors bind to the unmethylated IFN-gamma promoter in T helper type 1 (TH1) cells but not the methylated IFN-gamma promoter in TH2 cells.
