Pyruvate kinase (PK) from a moderate thermophile , Bacillus stearothermophilus (BstPK) , is an allosteric enzyme activated by AMP and ribose 5-phosphate but not by fructose 1,6-bisphosphate (FBP).
However , fructose 1,6-bisphosphate (FBP) stimulated the enzyme markedly by increasing its affinity for PEP.
The aim of this study was to examine the effects of PEP on hepatic energy metabolism at an early phase after ischemia and reperfusion were examined in rats.
To investigate the protective effect and mechanism of alanyl-glutamine dipeptide (Ala-Gln) against hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats.
